On Monday 18 November 2013, the SRG and Swiss Solidarity are organizing a National Fundraising Day on behalf of the victims of the disastrous Typhoon Haiyan, which has devastated large swathes of the Philippines and caused considerable damage in Vietnam.
On National Fundraising Day, hundreds of volunteers will be manning the telephones at the SRG studios in Bern, Chur, Geneva, Lugano and Zurich to take donation pledges from 06.00 hours until midnight.
Current donation status: 2.15 million francs
Switzerland is once again displaying solidarity with the victims of a major disaster. The current status of donations amounts to 2.15 million francs. As usual, donations made to Swiss Solidarity are being used to co-fund aid projects by partner relief organizations. Twelve partner organizations are already at work in the regions hit by the crisis, where they can rely on the support of local partners who know the area well and are experienced in emergency response. They are also sending their own teams to launch the disaster relief in the most difficult of conditions.
35th National Fundraising Day for Swiss Solidarity
The National Fundraising Day on behalf of the Philippines is Swiss Solidarity’s 35th. More than 1.5 billion francs have been raised throughout the foundation’s 67-year history, of which 25% have been used for people in need in Switzerland, 6% have gone to child aid abroad and 69% to disaster relief abroad.
